FAQ & How-To

How to Add a Charm to Your Bracelet

Italian charm bracelets work a little differently than a typical charm bracelet — the links themselves slide out to connect to each other. Each charm has a small hook on one side and a matching lip on the other side.

  1. Take the charm you'd like to add, and find the end of your bracelet (or the charm you want to add it next to).
  2. Slide the middle of the charm to reveal the hook.  Line up the charm's hook with the lip of the neighboring charm.
  3. Insert the hook into the other charm lip until it clicks securely into place.

That's it! No pliers, no jewelry tools, just your fingers.

How to Put On and Close Your Bracelet

Your bracelet closes on your wrist the exact same way you attach any charm — there's no separate clasp to fumble with. Simply take the two end charms of your assembled bracelet and connect them the same way: slide out the center, hook into lip,  Give it a gentle tug to confirm it's locked before you head out the door.

How Many Charms Fit on a Bracelet?

Most standard Italian charm bracelets hold approximately 18-20 charms, depending on your wrist size. You don't need to fill every link right away — plenty of collectors build their bracelet gradually over time, adding a new charm from each trip or milestone.  You can start with a pretty silver or gold base bracelet and just add one charm at a time.  The base Italian charm bracelets even look great on their own!

Will Charms From Other Brands Fit My Charm the Globe Bracelet?

Yes. Charm the Globe bracelets use the universal 9mm modular Italian charm format — the same standard size used across the Italian charm bracelet world. If you already have charms from a previous collection, they'll fit right in alongside your new ones.

Can I Mix Vintage and New Charms on the Same Bracelet?

Absolutely — and we love seeing this. Many of our customers build bracelets that blend our current travel charm collection with pieces from The Vintage Collection, creating something that tells a story across decades, not just one shopping trip.

Are the Vintage Charms Guaranteed Authentic?

Yes. Every piece in The Vintage Collection includes a photo of its actual back stamp — the manufacturer's mark stamped into the metal — right on the product page, so you can see the real proof, not just our word for it.

What Does "New Old Stock" Mean?

"New Old Stock," often shortened to NOS, refers to genuine vintage inventory that was made decades ago but never sold or worn. These pieces have been kept carefully stored since their original production, which means they arrive to you in the same condition as the day they were made — just with real age and history behind them.

How Do I Clean and Care for My Bracelet and Charms?

Stainless steel is naturally durable and low-maintenance. To keep your bracelet and charms looking their best:

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing to remove any oils or residue
  • For a deeper clean, use a small amount of mild soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, chlorine, and prolonged water exposure, especially with enamel-finished charms
  • Store your bracelet in its pouch when not being worn to prevent scratching

Does My Order Come With Gift Packaging?

Yes! Every order ships in a soft organza drawstring pouch — a smaller size for individual charms, and a longer pouch sized specifically for bracelets. For larger orders, we upgrade to a velvet pouch for an extra-special touch. Either way, your order arrives ready to gift, no extra wrapping required.
